Police Officer 1 (Academy Graduate)
About The Position
Under general supervision, the Police Officer I performs duties related to protecting public health, safety, and welfare and enforcing applicable federal, state, and local laws. The role includes traffic enforcement and control, special assignments in a particular phase of police work, and other related duties as required. Police Officer I is the entry-level class in the Police Officer series and is responsible for the full scope of assigned law enforcement duties. The position has a twelve-month probationary period, after which the officer is expected to promote to Police Officer II upon successful completion of probation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a California POST Basic Certificate.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver's license.
- Successfully complete a twelve-month probationary period to be expected to promote to Police Officer II.
Nice To Haves
- Prior law enforcement experience or successful completion of college coursework in criminology, police science, or a related field is desirable but not required.
