About The Position

Position provides a clear pathway to becoming an Independence Police Officer and provides needed support to units within the Independence Police Department. Duties are performed on a rotational basis through various units of the Independence Police Department.

Requirements

• Applicant must be between 18 and 20 years of age to apply and cannot exceed their 21st birthday as a Cadet unless actively waiting for a Law Enforcement Academy class to begin.
• Applicant must have an interest in a career as an Independence Police Officer.
• Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Applicant must have a valid driver’s license by date of application.
• Applicant must have a good driving record.
• Applicant must pass a comprehensive written exam.
• Applicant must pass a physical agility test.
• Applicant must pass an oral board interview.
• Applicant must pass a polygraph exam.
• Applicant must pass a psychological evaluation.
• Applicant must undergo an extensive background investigation with ability to render credible testimony in a court of law.
• Applicant must pass a medical exam.
• Applicant must pass a drug screen.
