About The Position

The POL Lab General Supervisor is expected to manage daily laboratory operations. This role involves overseeing lab staff, creating and managing schedules, recruiting new team members, and ensuring smooth logistical operations. You will collaborate with medical professionals to deliver high-quality patient care, monitor sample throughout, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with quality and efficiency standards. The General Supervisor will report to the Director of Lab Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience with (CLIA defined) high complexity molecular testing in a CLIA certified laboratory
  • Proven ability to independently manage projects and adapt to change, with strong leadership and problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to manage transitions and remain on your feet for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Professional business attitude, appearance and demeanor
  • Excellent analytical and presentation skills
  • Motivated, organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a busy office environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate with members of the healthcare team
  • Basic Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct PCR tests, analyze results, and generate technical reports in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Oversee and manage all laboratory staff, logistical operations, and the implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the development and execution of departmental goals, objectives, policies, procedures, and systems
  • Monitor and manage sample throughput to ensure alignment with available lab capacity
  • Work closely with medical professionals to guarantee delivery of high-quality patient care and services
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards in all aspects of work
  • Consistently meet or exceed established quality targets and efficiency benchmarks
  • Participate in routine laboratory functions as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
