About The Position

Commerce Casino is the world’s largest card casino, established in 1983, offering over 200 tables and employing more than 2,500 staff. Known as “Where the World Comes to Play,” the casino provides a comprehensive benefits package. The Poker Supervisor role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all games, ensuring smooth operations, and enforcing gaming decisions in assigned areas. This position involves overseeing daily Poker operations, including starting, combining, and breaking games, as well as supervising Poker Section personnel through training, evaluation, discipline, and scheduling. The supervisor monitors staff performance in customer service and policy enforcement, documents unusual situations, and communicates with Shift Managers and other floor personnel. Additionally, the role assists in employee relations programs, customer marketing efforts, and special events, while providing excellent customer service and complying with Currency Transaction Reporting policies. The Poker Supervisor is also responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly assigned section and performing other duties as assigned by Casino Management. Open availability for day, swing, and graveyard shifts, along with weekends and holidays, is required.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in casino gaming operations.
  • Bachelors in Management or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • A casino work permit from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Key Employee License from the Bureau of Gambling Control.
  • Must have knowledge of Casino gaming rules and operation.
  • Able to monitor and supervise employees of all levels.
  • Must have general knowledge in Federal and State Gaming Laws as well as in Marketing.
  • Must understand and be able to enforce Company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Must be an ethical decision maker, self-motivated, able to resolve conflicts, and have effective communication skills with all levels of employees/patrons.
  • Must demonstrate positive/enthusiastic approach to all assignments.
  • Attendance and punctuality are an essential function of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains integrity of all Games consistent with Company procedures.
  • Understands and is responsible for department and Company policy and procedure pertaining to all games.
  • Establishes that games are running smoothly and enforce gaming disputes and decisions in assigned gaming areas.
  • Oversees daily Poker operations; including but not limited to starting, combining, and breaking games.
  • Oversees Poker Section personnel, including training, evaluating, disciplining and scheduling assignments for all assigned Poker Section floor staff.
  • Monitors floor staff’s performance in responding to customers’ needs.
  • Monitors floor staff’s performance in enforcing and following established policies and procedures pertaining to Poker games.
  • Documents any “out of the ordinary” situations dealing with either customers or employees.
  • Maintains communication with the Shift Manager and other floor personnel regarding personnel or any unusual activities on the floor.
  • Assists and participates in employee relations programs and promotions, as well as customer marketing efforts and special events.
  • Provides excellent customer service consistent with company standards and procedures established by the management, or as discussed in departmental meetings.
  • Understands and complies with Commerce Casino’s Currency Transaction Reporting Policy and Procedures.
  • Responsible for keeping assigned section safe and orderly.
  • Performs all other work-related duties as assigned by the Casino Management.
