Poison Information Specialist

About The Position
Answer telephone calls relating to known or suspected poisonings and then advise on treatment and /or triage of patient to appropriate level of care. Also participate in data collection/reporting efforts, public education programs, and research efforts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Familiarity with basic aspects of pharmacology, toxicology, and clinical patient management
- Good organizational skills
- Familiarity with computer data entry and retrieval
- Ability to assess severity of exposures and placate victims and families
- Ability to educate, prioritize, triage and communicate effectively with general public and health care professionals
- 1-2 years clinical experience
- Sit for and pass the AAPCC specialist in poison information certification exam as soon as eligibility requirements are met
Nice To Haves
- Emergency Department or Critical Care experience preferred
