The Point of Care Coordinator at Shriners Hospitals for Children is responsible for optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of point-of-care testing services, ensuring timely and accurate diagnostic results to support patient care. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution
• 4 Years Clinical Laboratory experience
• Associate's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and 5 years of work-related experience

Nice To Haves

• Point of Care equipment and regulations experience
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

Responsibilities

• Participates in the introduction and implementation of new POC procedures and in the evaluation of new POC instruments
• Participates in the Clinical Lab Quality Assurance Program, instrument selection, preventative maintenance, safety test procedures and reagent purchases
• Participates in the writing of procedure manuals or other reference materials
• Demonstrates the ability to professionally interact and communicate appropriately with staff, patents, families, and visitors
• Assists in monitoring and documenting laboratory results into the Shrine System
• Performs and documents preventative maintenance and function checks for PC equipment and assures proper operation of instrumentation
• Participates in laboratory charge reconciliation
• Performs a variety of comprehensive registration and scheduling functions
• Demonstrate open, accurate and timely communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective therapeutic interventions
