About The Position

The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a patient-centered, team-based multi-specialty practice that has a full-time opportunity available for a Podiatrist in central Brooklyn. BSFHC has been providing affordable, comprehensive, outpatient medical and dental services in an outpatient setting for over 40 years. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), BSFHC serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. Our mission is to provide the most professional, courteous and highest quality health care, with dignity, to those we serve, especially the undeserved population, without regard for ability to pay. We are looking for a Podiatrist who is self-motivated, technically proficient and with great interpersonal skills to join our organization that prides itself in a great work culture. Physician will work closely with a team of professionals to provide culturally sensitive, high quality, comprehensive services to the community to achieve expected outcomes and comply with BSFHC Mission.

Requirements

  • Must be fully licensed to practice in the state of NY
  • Board certified Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from an accredited program.
  • DEA certificate
  • 2 + years of experience as a Podiatrist
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Excellent bedside manner, empathy, and patience
  • Up-to-date knowledge of latest technologies and treatments in Podiatry
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cultural-competency skills for working with a diverse patient population.
  • The ability to demonstrate teamwork and effective interpersonal relations skills is imperative.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to foster and maintain a positive working relationship in a multidisciplinary team and clients

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in dementia care as it relates to patient communication and understanding.
  • Familiarity with systemic health issues (e.g., diabetes, vascular, gastroenterology) that may impact podiatric health.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses, treats, or prescribes treatment of the foot, ankle, and other related structures using medical histories, physical examinations, x-rays, and laboratory test results.
  • Prescribes medications, corrective devices, physical therapy, or surgery and sets fractures.
  • Administers medications and local anesthetics.
  • Orders additional medical tests (like X-rays, ultrasounds etc.) to form a better diagnosis if necessary.
  • Refers patients to other physicians or specialists for consultation in an inter-professional manner.
  • Advises patients about treatments and foot care techniques to prevent future problems.
  • Completes clinical notes within a timely fashion for each patient visit.
  • Displays a positive, professional, and respectful demeanor at all times toward fellow staff members, peers, professional contacts, and patients served.
