About The Position

Metson Marine Services, Inc. (MMSI) is hiring a deckhand to perform duties aboard vessels or craft at PNSY in Kittery, Maine. The deckhand assists with safe and efficient vessel operations and the crew, embarked technicians, and military personnel as directed by ship’s officers. The position also involves vessel upkeep, preservation, cleaning, deck equipment operation, small boat operations, and securing deck and project equipment. The role requires compliance with company policies and applicable USCG and government regulations.

Requirements

• USCG endorsement as an OS.
• Knowledge of shipboard operations, rigging, deck seamanship, and deck maintenance and preservation.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic environment.
• Pass CG Water Safety Class or be qualified as a Navy 2nd Class Swimmer.
• Meet the applicable USCG Merchant Mariner medical and physical examination requirements (Form CG-719 K).

Responsibilities

• Assist in the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, crew, and embarked technicians and military personnel as directed by ship’s officers.
• Perform tasks related to vessel operation and upkeep.
• Perform hull, deck, and superstructure preservation and general cleaning.
• Operate deck equipment and conduct small boat operations.
• Secure deck and project equipment.
• Comply with company policies and procedures and applicable USCG, federal, state, and local government regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required for contract performance.
