About The Position

Unitek Learning is seeking a Practical Nursing (PN) Instructor to educate and prepare the next generation of nurses and healthcare professionals. This role involves teaching both lecture content and clinical rotations, which can occur at various times and locations, including weekdays and weekends. The instructor will be responsible for maintaining student records, participating in professional development, and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff on campus.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with current licensure in the state in which you are applying to teach.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
  • Master’s in Nursing or Bachelor’s in Nursing depending on State and Program.
  • Able to meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Nursing.
  • Current knowledge of nursing practice; ability to mentor students in classroom, lab and clinical settings; ability to work independently without close supervision; broad knowledge of nursing sciences; successful handling of day to day operations in the nursing lab; proficient, strong communications skills verbal and written; current knowledge/experience in clinical setting.
  • Must obtain ATI, Assessment Technology Institute Certification within 30 days of hire (offered by Unitek).
  • Current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in the areas of Practical Nursing.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies/techniques in teaching.
  • Demonstrate or acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Assist with reviewing and revising syllabus for specific courses within the program and instructional guidelines.
  • Submit required program reports and forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Maintain student records of attendance, grades, and skills check-off forms and assist with program data collection that meets set due dates and deadlines.
  • Assist with updating and maintaining student files as related to clinical requirements, immunizations and educational requirements.
  • Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to program needs.
  • Teach both lecture content and clinical rotations (clinical rotations can be days, and/or evenings, on weekdays and/or weekends).
  • Participate in professional development; maintain CE hours to ensure renewed licensure, takes responsibility for staying current with college updates.
  • Actively participate in committees as assigned, based on availability, taking into consideration teaching responsibilities as a priority.
  • Regular, in-person attendance up to 5 days per week on campus/on site is an essential function of this position.
  • This role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff.
