About The Position

Our Park Rapids team is seeking a mental health practitioner to join us in serving our patient populations throughout the community. This APP will be responsible for providing behavioral health services to individual patients and families across the continuum of care. Our professional, patient centered, and compassionate behavioral health providers and support staff are a source of excellent support and extensive resources. The Behavioral Health Division at Essentia Health includes physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and dedicated support staff. This highly respected and rapidly growing team has access to top-notch facilities that provide the ideal setting for candidates seeking a professional atmosphere for their practices. Seeking a 1.0 FTE (full-time status); Mon-Fri from 8am-5pm Practice will consist of primarily outpatient practice with occasional inpatient/ED consults New PMHNP graduates will be considered Pediatric experience and competence preferred

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in a related field from an accredited institution with a specialty focus in mental health.
  • Must be certified by a professional organization in order to exercise advanced competencies including (a) mental health promotion and (b) the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
  • Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – Psychiatry Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ)
  • State licensure as either a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or a Physician Assistant (PA) with a Psychiatry Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ) with graduate coursework in: Advanced health assessment (to include both physical and mental health). Pathophysiology (or neurophysiology/biophysiology). Pharmacology and/or psychopharmacology (both preferred). Diagnosis and medication management of psychiatric illness (clinical practicum) AND have supervised clinical training at the graduate or post-graduate level
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • National certification in applicable area.
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
  • NP: Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state.
  • NP: Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in appropriate state.
  • PA: Current licensure as a physician assistant in appropriate state.
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals.
  • Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Conducting health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
  • Prescribing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating psychopharmacological medications.
  • Providing integrated mental health services in general health settings.
  • Collaborating with psychiatrists, seeking consultation when necessary, and referring patients to other providers when necessary.
  • Collaborating within the interdisciplinary team to promote behavioral health services on the continuum of care.
  • Highly developed analytical critical thinking and organizational skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and to use tact, discretion, and diplomacy when working with others.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in an environment of multiple demands and use of good judgment in emergency situations.
  • Keyboard skills and basic computer skills.
  • This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
  • In addition to the responsibilities of this APP as defined in the description, this provider is responsible for providing and supporting behavioral health services to individual patients and families across the continuum of care.
