About The Position

This position is part of the Project Management and Construction (PMC) group within Duke Energy, responsible for building new power generation assets. PMC is in the early stages of a significant buildout, focusing on renewable solar, bulk energy storage, new simple and combined cycle turbines, and developing projects for advanced nuclear, pumped storage hydro, and other emerging technologies. The Project Engineering role is responsible for the technical management of all phases of project planning and execution, ensuring project success factors such as scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration are met. This role typically operates under the general direction of a Project Director or Senior PM in a matrixed project organization. The Project Engineer provides leadership, decision-making, management, guidance, direction, coordination, and overall control of the technical aspects of projects. This involves leading Duke Energy engineers and technical staff, as well as external technical consultants and contingent labor. The Project Engineer acts as the technical conscience throughout all project execution phases, from development through design, construction, commissioning, and turnover. This specific position will support the execution of the Solar, BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), and Solar plus BESS portfolio.
