About The Position

As a Steward at The Vanguard Hotel in Ann Arbor, MI, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas to ensure a seamless and hygienic food service operation. Your efforts will directly contribute to the overall guest experience by supporting the culinary and service teams with timely and efficient cleaning, dishwashing, and equipment maintenance. You will be responsible for managing waste disposal and assisting with inventory control to help maintain operational flow. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Basic understanding of sanitation and food safety standards.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a similar steward or kitchen support role preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning procedures.
  • Certification in food safety or sanitation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, clean, and sanitize all kitchen utensils, cookware, and dishware promptly and thoroughly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and workstations to comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and storage of supplies.
  • Dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with hotel policies and environmental guidelines.
  • Support kitchen staff by organizing and maintaining equipment and supplies to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the management team immediately.
  • Collaborate with culinary and service teams to ensure timely support during peak service hours.
