About The Position

This plumbing focused Facilities Maintenance Technician role centers on maintaining and repairing critical plumbing systems in industrial and commercial facilities while supporting broader building operations. You'll work hands-on with complex plumbing infrastructure including water distribution systems, waste and drainage networks, backflow prevention assemblies, and specialized industrial process piping. Beyond plumbing, you'll leverage your cross-functional technical knowledge to support HVAC systems, electrical infrastructure, and building automation controls as needed. You'll be responsible for diagnosing plumbing failures, preventing system disruptions, responding to maintenance requests, conducting routine inspections, coordinating with contractors, and maintaining detailed records while ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and building codes. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in commercial or industrial plumbing with demonstrated knowledge of large-scale water distribution, drainage systems, and process piping
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and general mechanical systems to provide well-rounded facilities support
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with proven capacity to diagnose complex plumbing system failures and implement effective solutions
  • Valid driver's license, high school diploma or equivalent, and journeyman plumber license (or ability to obtain within 6 months) required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces and mechanical rooms, tolerate various weather conditions, and participate in after-hours emergency response and on-call rotation schedule as required

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman or Master Plumber license with backflow prevention certification
  • Technical school certification or apprenticeship completion in plumbing or pipefitting
  • Experience with critical facilities environments such as data centers, hospitals, manufacturing plants, or laboratory facilities
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems such as MAXIMO, Tririga, Corrigo, or similar platforms
  • Knowledge of fire suppression systems, medical gas systems, process piping, and specialized industrial plumbing applications
  • EPA 608 certification for refrigerant handling or HVAC technician certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial and industrial plumbing systems including water supply lines, drainage systems, fixtures, pumps, backflow preventers, and process piping, while identifying opportunities to improve system efficiency and prevent costly failures
  • Diagnose and resolve complex plumbing issues such as pipe failures, pressure irregularities, drainage blockages, fixture malfunctions, and water quality concerns using appropriate tools, leak detection equipment, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Support building operations through general maintenance of HVAC systems, electrical components, and building automation controls, applying well-rounded technical knowledge to keep critical facilities running smoothly
  • Conduct routine inspections of plumbing infrastructure, water treatment systems, safety equipment, and structural components to identify potential problems before they escalate into emergency situations or operational disruptions
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment records using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track system performance, water usage trends, and support data-driven decision making
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized plumbing installations, pipe replacements, and major maintenance projects, ensuring quality standards, code compliance, and cost-effectiveness
