About The Position

Garg Consulting Services, Inc. (Garg) is a multidisciplinary engineering firm specializing in railroad and transit construction projects across the Northeast. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Rocky Hill, CT, with an office in Princeton, NJ, Garg employs over 100 professionals delivering high-profile rail and transit infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking an experienced Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer to join our growing team in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. As a Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineer, you will lead the design and oversight of HVAC, plumbing, pumping, and fire protection systems for a variety of facilities projects. This role involves design leadership, construction-phase services, and client collaboration, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all applicable codes and engineering standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in plumbing, fire protection, and HVAC system design
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilation, and hydronic piping systems
  • Familiarity with Building, Fire, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fuel Gas Codes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with facility projects, design, and construction-phase services

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commercial and industrial facilities projects
  • Strong understanding of hydronic systems, pumps, and fire sprinkler systems
  • Familiarity with design-build and conventional project delivery methods
  • Ability to conduct site visits and inspections in various conditions
  • Experience coordinating with cross-disciplinary engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Perform load calculations, hydraulic pressure drop analyses, and plumbing pipe sizing.
  • Convert design concepts into working drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight during construction.
  • Interface with clients to clarify requirements, resolve challenges, and deliver engineering expertise.
  • Ensure all designs comply with International Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Codes, NFPA 13, ASME B31.1/31.9, and SMACNA duct standards.
  • Work closely with civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Prepare reports, plans, specifications, and construction documents.
