About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Plant Operations Manager, the Plumber installs, repairs, and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the boiler water, gas, and drainage systems. This role involves ensuring the proper functioning of plumbing systems within PMC facilities, managing vendor relationships, and utilizing work order systems for tracking and documentation.

Requirements

  • Formal Education: Vocational or other technical school, certification training or apprenticeship required beyond high school.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience.
  • Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: Four (4) yr apprenticeship required (equivalent years of experience in field may be accepted in lieu of apprenticeship).
  • Valid Florida Driver's License (FDL) and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that is acceptable to PMC’s corporate automobile insurance carrier. License will be screened prior to employment and at least annually thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • State of Florida License preferred.
  • Journeyman 5 License (Plumbing) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and replace pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.
  • Maintain boiler water, gas, and drainage systems.
  • Read blueprints of plumbing systems.
  • Identify and know the function of shut-off valves throughout the facilities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for all plumbing vendors conducting work at PMC facilities.
  • Use required tools to complete assigned tasks safely and correctly.
  • Acquire and return tools to correct locations in good operating condition.
  • Observe good housekeeping practices and clean up work areas after each task.
  • Keep work area, shop, and vehicles neat and organized.
  • Provide cooperative and courteous service to visitors, patients, staff, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Practice good teamwork with all members of the shop.
  • Locate and order appropriate parts/supplies for repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Follow up on orders for arrival times and ensure received parts are taken to appropriate storage locations.
  • Ensure unused parts/supplies and tools are stored back in appropriate locations.
  • Follow good time management practices and utilize all time to benefit Parrish Healthcare.
  • Communicate with the team to bundle work orders when going off-site.
  • Utilize the work order system to track activities and time.
  • Create and complete work orders correctly, entering clear comments on completed work and logging time accurately.
  • Complete assigned and unassigned training, including cross-training, to better prepare for completing multiple tasks.
  • Assist in training other team members.
  • Complete assigned preventative maintenance (PMs) in a timely manner.
  • Fill out work orders and reports correctly and accurately, turning in applicable reports in a timely manner.
  • Install/repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, and water heaters.
  • Maintain and inspect water systems throughout PMC, including fountains, softeners, HVAC water treatment, and aspects of the Water Management Program.
  • Serve as the point of contact for water treatment vendors.
  • Understand role and respond to all applicable disasters and drills.
  • Know fire, disaster, and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.
  • Perform similar or related duties as assigned.
