About The Position

University plumbers work with all types of potable water pipe repair and installation; building drain and sanitary drainage system and related ventilation system; plumbing fixture repair and installation; fire protection piping and the repair, maintenance, and installation of control devices within these systems; perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be member in good standing and be able to provide proof of current membership in the Plumbers’ Local Union No. 63 affiliated with the A.F.L.-C.I.O. and the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing Industry of the United States and Canada
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience as a Journeyman in all aspects of commercial and or industrial plumbing repair, maintenance and new installations
  • Ability to take instruction from several sources
  • Ability to work/interact with diverse groups of people demonstrating respect and sensitivity for cultural differences
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good attendance/work records
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must have mental and physical capabilities to perform essential functions of position with or without reasonable accommodations, i.e., stand, bend, reach, push, pull, climb, etc.
  • Tolerate constant or extreme noise
  • Speak and write
  • Independently handle up to 50 pounds
  • Visual ability sufficient to safely and effectively operate equipment
  • Hearing ability sufficient to hear statements and hold conversations through earpiece and in person
  • Speaking ability sufficient to communicate effectively with other individuals
