About The Position

Under general direction, the Plumber inspects, installs, repairs, and replaces pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the hospital’s heating, water, gas, and drainage systems. The role installs plumbing system components such as faucets, sinks, toilets, and valves, and plans installations by studying blueprints and work sketches.

The Plumber also performs related maintenance, service, repair, testing, inspection, and installation work on plumbing and piping systems and components, and maintains inventory parts and supplies. The position may assist other maintenance personnel with repair and service functions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two to six years of progressively more responsible experience.
• A City of Detroit plumbing license, a Michigan Master Plumber license, or a Michigan State Journeyman Plumber license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, install, repair, and replace pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.
• Maintain the hospital’s heating, water, gas, and drainage systems.
• Install plumbing system components, including faucets, sinks, toilets, and valves.
• Plan installations by studying blueprints and work sketches.
• Perform maintenance, service, repair, testing, inspection, and installation of plumbing and piping systems and components.
• Maintain inventory parts and supplies.
• Assist other maintenance personnel with repair and service functions as needed.
