About The Position

Trinity Health Oakland Full Time Journeyman SUMMARY Maintains, installs, and repairs plumbing equipment. Provides for the reliable and safe operation of the hospital plumbing distribution system. QUALIFICATIONS Education Minimum: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) Preferred: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training. Credentials/Licensure Minimum: A current Journeymen plumber’s license Preferred: A current Master plumber’s license Related Experience Minimum: Four year plumbing experience Preferred: Five or more years experience, hospital experience preferred Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum: Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and the test equipment specific to the field. Ability to follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken. Read and understand Blue Prints and Schematics. Preferred: Experience with Pro-Press fittings and tools. Computer Competency Shows how to use (through a competency assessment) a standard desktop and windows based computer system, including a basic understanding of email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required to perform the essential functions of the job. Physical/Mental Minimum: Must be physically able to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, sitting, squat, stand, twist, and walk. Possess ability to mentally concentrate while being subject to interruptions and changing work priorities. Must be able to work while being exposed to infectious disease, dust and inclement weather, marked changes in temperature and/or humidity, radiation, fumes/vapors, sharp instruments/tools, hazardous liquids, and operating machinery. Must have near vision, far vision, depth perception, and be able to distinguish colors. Must have sensory ability to distinguish hot, cold, range of temperature, surfaces, fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and detect/distinguish odors. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently bend and turn at waist, reach overhead and lift, push/pull and or move up to 100 pounds. Ability to work in cramped/confined areas for extended periods. WORKING CONDITIONS Hospital environment, potential exposure to contagious disease. Exposure to wet, slippery, unsteady, irregular and narrow surfaces. Exposed to indoor and outdoor temperatures. Exposure to hazard from plumbing construction work, possible exposure to fumes, dust, hazardous materials, noise, and hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists in planning, installation, and maintenance of hospital water and drain systems Performs preventive maintenance on equipment according to established procedures and guidelines and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards. Performs corrective maintenance including diagnosing problems using electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or other sciences and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards. Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems. Completes Daily Time Sheet in Team Ops to track work orders and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous work done. Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and order as appropriate. Coordinates and monitors support efforts with outside service organizations when necessary to make sure the work they perform is appropriate and documented. Maintains age specific safety precautions including: No small, sharp objects, or tools that may injure patients or visitors will be left out. Hallways and pathways will be free of debris, equipment, tools and liquid spills. Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, working to accomplish team objectives and projects, and by soliciting feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member. Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements
