The Plumber performs plumbing projects, scheduled preventive maintenance and repair to any type of water usage equipment or vessel in order to keep the hospital operating normally and to ensure proper patient care and comfort. Provides plumbing to and from new equipment to confirm to current codes. In addition, the Plumber is responsible to assist with general security duties, respond to all security alerts, fires, and disasters (i.e.; Disasters Levels I, II, III, and IV, etc.).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate (G.E.D.)
  • Experience must include all phases of plumbing installation and repairs and in-depth knowledge of plumbing codes.
  • Minimum three years trade school and five years' experience.
  • Must have and maintain valid PA or NJ Driver’s License accepted by the Network insurance carrier and a good driving record.
  • Must obey and adhere to all motor vehicle regulations and laws while operating hospital vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of general commercial building maintenance.
  • Skilled in the operation of all tools within the trades.
  • Able to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain various parts and components of equipment within the facilities.
  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on all equipment.
  • Assist with general security duties, respond to all security alerts, fires, and disasters.
  • Activate and deactivate the hospital fire system.
  • Requisition material as needed.
  • Complete applicable paperwork.
  • Complete jobs thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner.
  • Cooperate with other departments and work groups.
  • Work independently, in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrate both problem solving and prevention skills equal to the expected level of responsibility to their jobs.
  • Complete assignments within the allotted time, taking into consideration the needs of patients, customers, and client.
  • Work carefully and precisely, with attention to detail.
  • Organize and deliver service in the proper order.
  • Display good organizational skills and utilize resources appropriately.

  • Assist with other security duties as required.
  • Perform work in accordance with local, state, and national code compliance in his/her zone and reports violations directly to the supervisory and management personnel in Engineering.
  • Use hand, power, and technical related tools and test equipment.
  • Treat others with consideration, courtesy, and respect.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.
  • Comply with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient, and environmental safety and follow appropriate reporting requirements.
