About The Position

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Facilities Management Foreman, responsible for repair, maintenance, renovations and construction of all plumbing and steam systems within the hospital and its related buildings, including the operation of the boiler plant. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs, oversees and inspects all plumbing, steam and heating work performed by hospital and contract employees.Works with the Facilities Management manager and/or Foreman to coordinate the shut-down for repairs to plumbing, steam and heating systems.Performs investigations to determine and locate defects in system and correct leaks, blockage and other problems as required.Repair water and steam operated equipment as required by work order, emergency calls or direct assignment.Study blueprints and diagrams to ascertain layout, location and specifications of items to be installed, prepare quantity and cost of material required; resolve any problems encountered.Maintain inventory of frequently used materials.Brings to the attention of the Facilities Management Manager and/or Foreman frequently repaired equipment for possible replacement.Maintain plumbing, steam and hot water heating systems, including storm, sanitary waste, domestic hot and cold water, fire protection systems, gas lines and steam boilers.Install plumbing, steam systems and hot water heating systems as outlined above through the use of necessary tools, fittings, valves and piping.Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures and objectives.Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Bradley Hospital, Facilities Management Department policy and the Fleet Risk Control policy and procedure.Must have a good driving record, meet and maintain the appropriate valid driver’s licenses in order to operate motor vehicle as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and in accordance with the Brown University Health Fleet Risk Control policy.Perform other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Completion of or equivalent to high school education. Knowledge of building codes required. Requirements

  • Completion of or equivalent to high school education.
  • Knowledge of building codes required.
  • State of Rhode Island plumbing, steam fitting and sprinkler licenses required.
  • Three to five years of experience.
  • Must have a good driving record, meet and maintain the appropriate valid driver’s licenses in order to operate motor vehicle as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, and in accordance with the Brown University Health Fleet Risk Control policy.
