About The Position

Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. This role may interpret building plans, trace piping, and inspect structures to ascertain obstructions. The Plumber will use hand and power tools to cut, thread, and bend pipe, and assemble and install various types of pipe and fittings. They will also perform pressure testing, and remove, install, and repair plumbing fixtures and maintain plumbing systems by replacing parts and clearing drains. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a clean, safe, and hazard-free work environment and providing top-quality guest service.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License Required.
  • Clean Driving Record Required.
  • 5 or more years of plumbing experience.
  • Knowledge and proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions.
  • Knowledge of building codes, rules, and regulations.
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an apprenticeship program by an accredited facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes.
  • Interprets building plans and traces piping and working drains to determine work aids required and sequence of installation or repair.
  • Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.
  • Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob.
  • Uses hand and power tools to cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Uses pipe cutters, torches, and pipe threading machine to cut and thread pipe.
  • Bends pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand.
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals (such as iron, steel and brass) and nonmetals (such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic) using hand and power tools.
  • Joints pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent and caulking on certain joints.
  • Performs pressure testing by filling pipe system with water or air and reading pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.
  • Removes, installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, including sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending failed pipe or fittings, and opening clogged drains.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and hazard free work environment.
  • Provides top quality guest service and demonstrates established guest service orientation.
  • Performs all compatible work duties as assigned.
