About The Position

Facilities Management's Health System Physical Plant at the University of Virginia is seeking an experienced Plumber who provides expertise in the plumbing field. The incumbent provides comprehensive maintenance and repair of all plumbing systems in support of zone maintenance in the Health System Physical Plant. The incumbent maintains all systems in operational condition and provides a safe and comfortable environment for all plumbing systems in support of zone maintenance. The Plumber should be able to read blueprints and have basic computer skills. Duties Include: Replace and install plumbing and mechanical components. Perform preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems and update or repair the systems when necessary. Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, BOCA, federal, state, and local regulations, and applicable building codes. Respond to requests from the University community and address plumbing problems quickly and professionally. Inform customers of job status, reasons for and duration of expected delays, as well as refer customers to the supervisor when appropriate. Ensure that all safety and personal protective equipment are used. Perform miscellaneous duties such as snow and ice removal and special events setups, as assigned by the supervisor. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of four [4] years of experience in the plumbing trade.
  • Journeyman or higher plumbing license.
  • Must have Flu shots (Required by the Medical Center).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hospital setting.
  • Licensed with Backflow Certification.
