About The Position

Responsible for the general mechanical work required for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all plumbing equipment and systems for the efficient operation of designated County building(s). Performs all duties required to provide efficient plumbing operations at various county facilities, such as estimating, installing, and repairing pipes and fittings, installing fixtures, repairing commodes, sinks, faucets, and unstopping drain lines. May be required to drive personal or county vehicle to various work sites. Assists and trains less experienced co-workers and performs other duties as assigned. Will be required to be on-call after hours. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements

High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency.
Four (4) years of hands-on experience repairing plumbing equipment and systems in commercial/industrial settings.
Current Journeyman Plumber License.
Valid driver's license (Texas upon hire) and a good driving record.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions in a thorough, neat, and timely manner and have the ability to read and follow blueprints.
Skilled in the care and use of hand tools and power equipment used in the plumbing trade.
Display mechanical aptitude.
Maintain courteous, helpful behavior at all times.
Self-starter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
Ability to obtain CJIS clearance and pass a security check and a drug test, as required.
Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check that includes being fingerprinted.
Must have the ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices for heavier items.

Participate in the classification process of departmental staff based on MEF responsibilities.
Be available for temporary deployment to an alternative work location, role, or telework assignment during emergency events.
Confirm work assignments with their supervisor prior to reporting to any worksite during such events.
Remain flexible in assuming alternative duties as directed to support continuity of County operations.
