About The Position

The primary purpose of this unit is to provide repair, replace, maintain and inspect all facility mechanical and plumbing systems at JIRDC to ensure a safe, wholesome and therapeutic environment for the residents and staff. The primary responsibility of this position is to supply direct Plant Operations support in the trade of Plumbing. Routine duties include but not limited to inspecting, repairing, replacing, and installing a wide variety of pipe fittings, valves, pumps, pressure gauges, regulators, dish sanitizers, all plumbing fixtures, maintaining facilities dietary equipment, including maintain functioning of facility water valves and sewer distribution. This position will be considered the Lead Plumber and will be responsible for providing an accurate material list which includes the cost associated, as well as the timeline for each repair. This position will be required to participate in a (5) week On-Call rotation with additional mechanical staff. This position (on occasion) is required to work outside the departments normal 7:30am-4:00pm work shift to begin or complete facility plumbing repairs, including (as required) weekends and holidays during non-scheduled facility plumbing emergencies. JIRDC Maintenance Department staff are designated Mandatory and required to work during adverse weather events and facility emergencies as needed and requested. Required training: Asbestos/Lead Training (O&M), Lock out/ Tag out, Equipment Safety Training.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in the repair, replacement or construction of piping systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience in plumbing, pipefitting, and/or sewage systems.
  • NC Licensed Plumber with diversified plumbing experience. (commercial & residential).
  • Work experience in a hospital, school, and/or institutional environment.

Responsibilities
