About The Position

The City and County of Denver (CCD) is seeking a Plumber II to join the Denver Arts & Venues team. This agency operates a special revenue fund by generating revenue through event and entertainment venues, investing in venue improvements, maintenance, arts programs, community grants, and cultural amenities. The Plumber II will be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, performing preventative maintenance, maintenance, and repair work on all plumbing systems and fixtures, installing or altering new or upgraded plumbing systems, responding to service calls, troubleshooting, inspecting and repairing fire protection systems, maintaining, testing, and installing backflow prevention devices, preparing sketches, maintaining records, and estimating costs. The role requires the ability to work independently and as a team, and to respond to after-hours calls.

This position is based primarily at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with some time spent at the Denver Coliseum. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a fully on-site position.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• Two (2) years of experience as a journey level plumber.
• A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
• Requires a valid Journey Plumber's License issued by the State of Colorado at the time of application.
• Licensure in another state with reciprocity may be accepted in lieu of this requirement, provided that the applicant has Colorado licensure at completion of probation.
• Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
• Self-directed, dependable, and takes initiative to identify and resolve maintenance issues
• Ability to work independently
• Team player; willing to step in and help out where needed to support operations
• Able to respond to after hours calls or emergency calls outside of normal scheduled or business hours
• Motivated to assist in the maintenance and repair work in a variety of skilled trades areas
• Strong arithmetic skills
• Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints to assess or plan plumbing installations and layouts
• Performs preventative maintenance, maintenance and repair work on all plumbing systems and fixtures in accordance to agency or department standards and code requirements
• Installs or alters new or upgraded plumbing systems and fixtures for the purpose of construction, tenant finishing or remodeling according to diagram specifications and code requirements
• Responds to plumbing service or trouble calls, troubleshoots and provides problem resolution
• Inspects, maintains and repairs various types of fire protection systems
• Maintains, tests, and installs devices for the prevention of backflow, back siphonage or cross connection
• Prepares working sketches and works from blueprints, written, or verbal instructions
• Maintains records and prepares daily activity reports
• Estimates materials, labor, and equipment costs
