About The Position

McKee Foods is seeking a Plumber/Boiler Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a Plumber/Boiler Maintenance Technician at McKee Collegedale Facilities, you will play a critical role in maintaining boiler and piping systems while ensuring all operations adhere to strict safety protocols. Your primary responsibilities include overseeing maintenance, adjusting system controls, and performing routine inspections and repairs on boilers, associated equipment, and hot water systems. Beyond troubleshooting and diagnosing plumbing-related issues, you will be expected to perform annual teardowns for state inspections and assist with various plumbing calls and departmental projects as assigned. This position requires a commitment to continuous technical development and the flexibility to work additional hours or "on-call" shifts as needed to support facility operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of verifiable experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing different types of high and low-pressure pipes
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints and maintenance and operation manuals
  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining gas-fired hot water systems
  • Working at various heights using ladders & platform lifts
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; team player with the willingness to work with others
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative; self-motivated
  • Knowledge and proficiency with using computers
  • Good safety, work & attendance record
  • Good verbal & written communication skills
  • Able to work flexible hours and extended shifts as needed
  • Must comply with conditions established by Corporate Risk Management to operate Company vehicles
  • Current Lift Truck license and/or ability to obtain
  • Must be willing and able to work outdoors throughout the year in all temperature ranges and weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5+ years direct, hands-on experience and good working knowledge of steam and hot water boilers, burners gas, and associated controls and electrical circuits, combustion
  • Functional working knowledge of plumbing/steam maintenance and troubleshooting techniques
  • Two-year degree in an industrial mechanical or vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship program
  • Kemco hot water system experience
  • Plumbing experience
