About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a PLS Manager. This role supervises the daily activities and assignments of the Product Line Support (PLS) engineering team. The PLS Manager performs complex engineering-related assignments often requiring development of new or improved products/processes/techniques. They assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests/products/equipment and develop yearly strategic plans aligned with Division Engineering and LP operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years in similar positions
  • Fully Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • MS Office proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day to day activities of the PLS engineering team (Lead Engineers, Master Designers, Supervisors).
  • Reports status on PLS team assignments and metrics, prioritizing engineering requests, projects and engineering to various cross-functional teams based on Business needs.
  • Supports the engineering aspects of cost out activities.
  • Ensures the proper design procedures and processes of the engineering team.
  • Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflict design requirements.
  • Coordinates project activities with other operating or engineering units to facilitate participation of appropriate staff in project completion.
  • Reviews project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy and compliance to Regulatory Agencies.
  • Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design/product improvement.
  • Provides technical soundness of design decisions and product changes to facilitate manufacturing, reduce costs, substitute material, improve quality and accommodate special customer needs.
  • Prevents and corrects manufacturing issues that affect product functionality or impact design intent.
  • Certification process coordinator.
  • Supports existing manufacturing processes and collaborates with cross-functional teams in the design of new manufacturing processes.
  • Maintains quality specifications and design intent of existing products.
  • Performs laboratory testing according to the product.
  • Controls and maintains the deviation system and CO process (Enovia).
  • Responsible for Product Data Management (PDM) process.
  • Responsible for project development for product improvements.
  • Coordinates with other departments to maximize the use of information, skills and resources.
  • Works with manufacturing plants on plans, processes and strategies to accomplish a trouble-free introduction of products into manufacturing.
  • Requests capital as needed in projects.
  • Supports PROLaunch on new product development and product line transfer as needed.
  • Complies with EQMS, Lean and Pro-Launch procedures and policies.
  • Supports VAVE activities for cost out.
  • Manages MET laboratory, builds prototypes and evaluates samples of products under development and/or UL VN evaluation.
  • Manages MET Lab daily accountability as well as capital expenditure for Lab projects.
  • Supports plant CI initiatives, actively participates in Gembas, LPA, OpA.
  • Team representation at the Site Leadership Meeting.
  • Supports LP plant Hi5.
