About The Position

PGI is a privately held company, established in 1996, and a leading supplier of private label solutions in the automotive industry. Our focus is on designing, manufacturing, and distributing products for automotive, diesel, power-sports, and specialty filter markets. Our supply chain network branches across the Pacific and into South America. The Position Summary involves setting up and operating pleater equipment to pleat filter paper according to prescribed methods, transporting raw materials to/from the production line, and producing filter elements to production order specifications. This role may also involve secondary functions such as operating other equipment and stock chasing.

Requirements

  • Communicate with appropriate personnel about problems encountered while performing job duties.

  • Read and understand documents regarding safety and established procedures for operating pleater.
  • Read and write to complete required paperwork and access information on the computer.
  • Interpret and comprehend instructions and information.
  • Comprehend and complete various forms of paperwork involving production, scrap and returns.
  • Determine paper height and width dimensions, pleat count, production order quantities, etc.
  • Basic math functions such as addition/subtraction.
  • Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions regarding sequence of operations to be performed and adjusting equipment as needed.
  • Monitor operation of pleater to ensure equipment is running properly and conforms to product specifications; checks paper, paint and component parts brought to line ensuring the correct materials and good quality.
  • Hand/eye coordination to feed media paper into pleater, operate floor jack, set pleater speeds, use basic hand tools to change pleater, load conveyor and parts bins, etc.
  • Lift/handle/push/pull 40-50 lbs. frequently.
  • Use a hand jack or electric walk-behind jack to transport heavy material.
  • Bend, stoop and reach frequently.
  • Stand/walk continuously during course of job duties.
  • Work in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, possible temperature extremes, dirt, solvents, paper dust, etc.
  • Able to maintain satisfactory record of attendance and conduct.
  • Able to work any shift and overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate pleater equipment to pleat filter paper according to prescribed methods.
  • Transport raw materials to/from production line.
  • Produce filter elements to production order specifications.
  • Perform secondary functions such as operating other equipment, stock chasing, etc.
  • Check materials brought to the line to ensure correct materials are being used and that they are of good quality (paint color/consistency, type, quality, and size of paper as well as type and quality of other component parts).
  • Prepare pleater equipment for operation, i.e., set guides, height, number of pleats, oven speed and temperature, etc.
  • Change equipment over when necessary.
  • Start pleater equipment and observe pleating for conformance to order specifications.
  • Feed paper into pleater ensuring a smooth, continuous flow of paper to the line.
  • Load reels of paper onto spindles at pleaters.
  • May stack parts in/out of boxes on lines making sure parts are available to assemblers and loads/unloads conveyors that feed parts to the assembly station.
  • In addition to pleater operation, may also have other responsibilities, including set up, operation, and monitoring of equipment such as welders, stock chasing, palletizing, etc.
  • Encourage teamwork and assist in various areas to promote production efficiency.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure product meets established quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Perform necessary inventory of materials on hand and notify appropriate individual when levels become low.
  • Interpret/complete various forms of paperwork involving production, scrap, and returns.
  • Keep area free of trash and debris, i.e., break down boxes, empty trash and scrap containers, sweep area around pleaters, etc.
  • Follow all safety procedures and safe working procedures.
  • Utilize PM, TPM, and predictive techniques and equipment to maintain equipment and tooling in good working condition.
  • Schedule and perform machine tear down to make repairs and modifications.
  • Monitor work in progress and make suggestions for improvements, keep supervisor/team leader informed of any problems associated with production and take action to provide support for resolution of problems and continuous improvement.
  • Promote teamwork.
  • May train new members in operations, paperwork, etc.
