About The Position

This position provides controls support for the Terminals and Marine organizations. The Electrical & Controls – PLC Control Specialists provides services that consist of power and controls design, plc programing, start-up assistance, operations support, emerging technology evaluation, as well as project management and construction oversight. The position will be located in the Findlay, OH office and can expect travel 15%-20% of the time with occasional overnight travel. The position will primarily have design / PLC programming responsibilities but is expected to have some project management responsibilities as well.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited institution or registered professional engineer or High School Diploma/GED with (5) years related experience in lieu.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience required.
  • Driver License Required

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in MS Office products
  • Prior GE/AB PLC (selection and set-up, programming, start-up), Terminal control / measurement equipment (presets, tank gauges, meters, etc), and experience with leading start-up/check-out of control systems and their cause & effect matrixes.
  • Candidate should also be familiar with communication systems and cabling methods such as Ethernet, fiber, serial interface and wireless systems.
  • Successful applicant should have 5+ years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team to support all control scope items throughout Terminals and Marine.
  • Evaluate new and existing systems for development, maintenance, and modifications.
  • Improve & implement control system designs PLC programming / interfacing, graphical user interface screens.
  • Review emerging control technology and how to interface with automation, PLC, and other systems.
  • Assist with specification and integration of control devices such as PLCs, sensors, transmitters, tranducers, relays, VFDs, operator interface devices, etc.
  • Review and update electrical / control drawings.
  • Develop, review designs, and assure construction activities meet industry safety standards such as NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and OSHA
  • Provide field start-up support for GE & AB PLCs, VFDs, Red Lions and other configurable instrumentation or power devices (Includes programming of PLC Logic, set-up of configurable devices, etc…)
  • Provide onsite field leadership for larger/critical projects that have a significant amount of PLC controls and equipment / instrumentation integration during construction and start-up activities.
  • Provide 24-7 on-call PLC support through a rotational schedule with other team members to assist with operational issues.
  • Apply project management skills to all facets of work including application of current technology, design optimization, resource procurement, financial monitoring, scheduling/planning, and contractor/consultant coordination as necessary to provide timely, cost-effective, safe environmentally conscientious, and value-added engineering services to the business partners.
  • Communicates with business partners to ensure timely project development and cost/status update information is available.
  • Communicates with work associates and external business partners to ensure timely and efficient project development and completion.
  • Appropriately identifies, documents, and communicates to their supervisor the resources required to ensure that workloads are completed cost-effectively and within required timeframes.
