About The Position

The t own of Cohasset is seeking P rogram Counselor s for the S ummer P rogram with the R ecreation D e partment. This position reports to the S ummer P rogram D irector and the R ecreation D irector. Program Counselors : Counselors for the full-day programs must be at least 17. Counselors for the half-day programs must be at least 16 years of age. Previous experience working with children is highly recommended. We are dedicated to building a diverse and committed team with a positive group dynamic, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for the children in our program. The Recreation Department is eager to choose staff members who truly enjoy working with children and possess the maturity, initiative, enthusiasm, and sense of responsibility needed to make this summer unforgettable .

Requirements

• Counselors for the full-day programs must be at least 17.
• Counselors for the half-day programs must be at least 16 years of age.
• CPR: All applicants must hold a current CPR certification.
• 202 6 Summer Program Dates: Monday, June 29 th through Friday, August 7
• Session 1 June 29 th through July 17 th – Mon-Fri
• Session 2 July 20 th through August 7 th – Mon-Fri
• Orientation Mandatory – week of June 22
• Deadline to Apply: March 15, 2026

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working with children is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• The primary responsibility of all the staff is to supervise and lead children aged 5- 9 through the Playground program.
• Supporting the director and coordinators
• Participating in training sessions
• Maintaining records such as weekly attendance and accident reports
• Ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility and grounds
• Enforce Recreation Department rules and policies related to the program
• Deliver exceptional customer service to both patrons and fellow staff members
