About The Position

The Playground Aide's primary goal is to ensure the safety of students as they travel to and from school and home in designated crossing zones. This is a non-exempt, 10-month position with split shifts, working 4 hours per day, totaling 20 hours per week. The position accrues personal/sick leave after a 60-day probation period.

Requirements

Must obtain and maintain an AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
High School Graduate or GED.
Previous experience in traffic safety, or the exhibited desire and ability to perform the required duties.
Ability to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.

Nice To Haves

Fluency in speaking Spanish.

Responsibilities

Set up and take down crossing guard signs and equipment.
Wear appropriate safety gear.
Stop traffic in an appropriate manner according to state and district guidelines.
Control students while they wait to cross and during crossing.
Report problems with students to the Director of Transportation and/or the Principal and complete required paperwork.
Ensure all traffic has stopped before allowing students to cross.
Assume responsibility for and secure assigned district keys.
Listen to, understand, and carry out oral and written instructions, and respond with reports.
Maintain good personal cleanliness and dress appropriately.
Practice good public relations with students, staff, administration, and parents.
Work efficiently and cooperatively with other staff members.
Practice regular and consistent attendance.
Perform all duties and assignments in a safe and responsible manner, using safety equipment.
Attend classes, in-services, and seminars as needed.
Perform emergency tasks as needed and directed.
Refrain from the use of inappropriate language.
Assist in all safety programs, drills, and evacuation proceedings.
Maintain district property, supplies, and materials in good condition.
Maintain district security by locking doors and gates, and reporting problems.
Assist in keeping district campuses clean and orderly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
