About The Position

As the first point of contact on the tee, the Golf Course Starter plays a key role in setting the tone for the guest experience. You are responsible for ensuring a smooth, welcoming, and organized start to every round — while embodying the values of anticipating needs, creating connections, and elevating the experience.

Responsibilities

  • Greet each group warmly and enthusiastically, offering a positive and confident first impression of the course
  • Clearly communicate daily course rules, cart restrictions, and pace of play expectations with a helpful and friendly tone
  • Provide information about course layout, facilities, restrooms, and any relevant updates for the day
  • Anticipate questions or needs and offer assistance before it’s asked for — going above and beyond to make players feel prepared and supported
  • Create a memorable, personal moment by learning and using guest names when possible
  • Maintain an accurate and updated tee sheet, ensuring visibility of all groups and player whereabouts
  • Organize and cue groups to the first tee, keeping the flow smooth and timely by having one group on deck and one group on the tee
  • Pair up groups when needed to maintain foursomes and maximize pace and efficiency
  • Monitor tee start times and communicate any delays, issues, or gaps in play to the Golf Shop and Player Assistants
  • Keep the first tee running efficiently while maintaining a calm and welcoming presence
  • Periodically tour the golf course to monitor pace of play and assist guests as needed
  • Gently remind players of pace expectations and cart rules when appropriate — always with respect and courtesy
  • Communicate with Player Assistants and Golf Shop to address delays or support needed on the course
  • Assist with special needs or requests from players and take ownership of resolving any on-course concerns
  • Coordinate daily activity and course setup with the Golf Shop and Guest Services teams
  • Provide accurate updates on tee times, pace issues, or guest feedback to management
  • Ensure the starter area is clean, organized, and professionally presented at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Professional or Golf Operations Manager
