About The Position

Applies the nickel plating finish to dies used in extrusion processes by following approved work instructions, key point sheets, and departmental standards and practices. This role also involves adhering to all safety protocols and environmental management system procedures, including waste disposal. The position requires participation in preventive maintenance, machine maintenance, and 5S activities.

Requirements

  • Must be able to successfully complete all required job training.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must pass Homeland Security level background check.
  • Must pass 40 hour HAZWOPER certification (provided by NGK).
  • 6 months manufacturing/warehousing experience or equivalent.
  • CRC Bronze or above.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions.
  • Ability to communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematics to calculate plating times.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Face masks are required per CDC guidelines, effective 10/1/2021.
  • Safety shoes must be worn while on NGK property.
  • Safety goggles and/or full face shield are required while performing certain job duties.
  • Task appropriate gloves (e.g. nitrile gloves, multi-poly gloves, or fire retardant gloves) are required while performing certain job duties.
  • PVC aprons are required while performing certain job duties.
  • Half mask cartridge respirators plus goggles are required while performing certain job duties.
  • Regularly scheduled testing is performed for: lung capacity (i.e. spirometry test), vision, and respirator fit.

  • Certified Production Technician program completion.
  • Experience with die measurement (Nexiv Coordinate Measuring Machines).
  • Good organizational skills.

  • Experience with equipment mechanics.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 2013.

Responsibilities

  • Performs die preparation operations using established techniques.
  • Handles corrosive chemistries and performs bath make-up according to approved recipes.
  • Cleans dies and performs general visual inspections on incoming work using a loupe and light table.
  • Measures dies using Nexiv CMM machine.
  • Practices good die handling techniques.
  • Enters accurate and complete data into the company’s information systems.
  • Promotes safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity in the department.
  • Participates in safety and work-related training.
  • Works safely by avoiding forklifts, staying clear of forklift doors, using personnel doors, and safely using overhead hoists.
  • Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global 5S) activities.
  • Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including waste disposal.
