About The Position

Noveon Magnetics is seeking a Plating Technician with over 3 years of experience in surface finishing for direct manufacturing and commercialization. The role requires expertise in electroplating metals and metallic alloys in aqueous solutions, including pre-treatment, cleaning, pickling, Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu, epoxy, and diagnosis/failure analysis of coatings. This individual will assist in electroplating and corrosion-resistance plating processes on pilot and production lines, applying corrosion-resistant coatings to Noveon products.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of pretreatment and wet processes for coating and plating.
  • Ability to use Excel to create and populate production data.
  • Knowledge of safe methods for handling materials and chemicals.
  • Comfort with measurement equipment such as micrometers, pH meters, and measuring scopes.
  • Associate degree with 2+ years of work experience.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Able to move up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening, medical physical and, if applicable, visual testing.
  • Possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Can wear PPE.
  • Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
  • Capable of making repetitive movements including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting and walking up and down stairs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with wet processes for coating/plating Zn, phosphate, Ni/Cu and epoxy is preferred.
  • Experience with chemical titrations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the plating engineer in developing wet processes, racking, and testing procedures for high-quality coatings and plating on magnet products.
  • Assisting in processing production work orders, and recording and reporting data.
  • Performing visual inspections, controlling plating thickness, and ensuring product quality.
  • Maintaining proper plating bath chemistries through chemical titrations, controller operations, and measurement operations.
  • Performing regular preventive maintenance and reporting equipment deficiencies.
  • Managing storage of materials, supplies, reports, corrosion tests, data, and data analysis.
  • Working with senior engineers on experiments and implementing improvements to the plating line.
  • Supporting the QC team in sampling analysis for process and product quality.
