About The Position

The Platform Engineer designs, implements, and maintains core infrastructure and platform services that enable application development and deployment. The role helps ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of cloud and on-premises systems while integrating DevSecOps principles throughout the software lifecycle. The position is remote, with candidates required to reside in one of the organization’s eligible remote-hire locations.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise managing and deploying cloud infrastructure, such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
A proven track record implementing and managing infrastructure as code.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as New Relic.
Proficiency in scripting and automation languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
In-depth understanding of networking concepts, including DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and VPNs.
Knowledge of security practices, including vulnerability scanning, compliance checks, and threat modeling.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines.
Accuracy, attention to detail, and organization in task management.
Ability to analyze and resolve difficult and often complex problems or situations.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators.
Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures.
Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties.

Responsibilities

Design and implement infrastructure as code to manage cloud resources using tools such as Azure ARM, Terraform, or Ansible.
Maintain and optimize Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying applications to Azure App Services and Azure Service Fabric.
Migrate Service Fabric microservices to Kubernetes.
Work with Azure Cloud Engineers to integrate new App Services within Azure Cloud Services.
Integrate third-party APIs within Azure API Management.
Oversee deployment and configuration of Kubernetes clusters, virtual machines, and containerized applications.
Collaborate with security teams to integrate security best practices, including SAST and DAST, into development and deployment pipelines.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform services for performance, availability, and cost-efficiency.
Manage secrets and credentials using tools such as Azure Key Vault.
Implement and enforce zero-trust principles, including robust identity and access management.
Create and maintain architecture diagrams, deployment guides, operational runbooks, and other documentation.
Guide and mentor development teams on platform usage and DevSecOps principles.
Participate in on-call rotations for platform incident response and resolution.
Stay current on cloud computing, DevSecOps, and platform engineering trends, tools, and practices.
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
