The position covers Kubernetes clusters and application deployments, on-premises platform services, databases, monitoring and security, customer-site preparation, and support for cloud CI/CD pipelines and hosted Kubernetes environments. It also includes using AI tools for scripting, troubleshooting, automation, and documentation, with review of generated output before production use.

Requirements

  • 2–6 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, or systems engineering.
  • Hands-on experience running Kubernetes outside a managed cloud service, including installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting; examples include RKE2, k3s, kubeadm, and OpenShift.
  • Strong background with Docker containers and Helm.
  • Understanding of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, TLS/certificates, firewalls, VPNs, and network segmentation.
  • Linux and Windows Server administration, with scripting in Bash and PowerShell.
  • Azure DevOps pipeline development or comparable CI/CD experience, and Azure or AWS cloud experience.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration.
  • Experience managing security policies and practices, such as SOC 2.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-grade production software, preferably delivered into customer-managed environments.
  • Programming experience with a high-level language such as C#.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customer IT staff and travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or an equivalent engineering field.
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, a continual-learning mindset, and self-motivation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with air-gapped or disconnected deployments.
  • Experience operating Kafka (e.g., Strimzi), Keycloak, and cert-manager on Kubernetes.
  • Infrastructure as code and configuration management experience, such as Ansible or Terraform.
  • Experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
  • Traffic or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) domain experience, or experience serving public-sector customers.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Kubernetes clusters in customer on-premises environments using customer-provided hardware and virtualization platforms.
  • Package and deploy Centracs Mobility services with Helm and version-controlled, repeatable configuration.
  • Build and maintain tooling, runbooks, and documentation for consistent on-premises installations and upgrades, including restricted or air-gapped deployments.
  • Provide on-premises platform services including ingress and load balancing, certificate management, persistent storage, secrets management, identity with Keycloak, and messaging with Kafka.
  • Provide platform capabilities for SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including provisioning, backup and restore, high availability, and upgrades.
  • Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for on-premises deployments, and diagnose and resolve issues remotely or on site.
  • Coordinate with customer IT and network teams on prerequisites such as networking, DNS, firewall rules, remote access, and hardware sizing.
  • Apply security hardening and patching to clusters, nodes, and containers; remediate CVEs; and support security practices and certifications such as SOC 2.
  • Build and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines for containerized .NET (C#) and Angular applications, and support cloud-hosted Kubernetes environments.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate scripting, troubleshooting, automation, and documentation, and review their output before applying it to production or customer environments.
  • Work with technical and support teams to deliver and manage services with maximum uptime.
  • Contribute to other projects as needed, such as software development.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed for installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
