About The Position

GreatAmerica is seeking a Platform Engineer II to build and support its core financial platforms, including lease and loan servicing, general ledger, and document management systems. The role maintains working knowledge of platform configuration and the business domains those platforms enable, including invoicing, funding and booking, accounting, and document workflows. Because GreatAmerica operates in a regulated financial services environment, platform reliability and data integrity carry regulatory importance. The engineer designs, builds, and maintains platform capabilities across cloud and on-premises environments, and owns lifecycle activities such as provisioning, upgrades, and patching. The role focuses on platform health, scalability, security, automation, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response. It also includes maintaining security controls, access management, and audit-ready documentation, while partnering with product, engineering, and business teams and contributing to reusable components and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, engineering, or administering technology platforms.
  • Experience administering or supporting enterprise financial, leasing, or banking platforms, such as loan or lease origination and servicing systems, enterprise content management, or general ledger systems, in on-premises or SaaS deployment models.
  • Working knowledge of a major cloud platform: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Basic programming or scripting ability in .NET, Java, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including writing and troubleshooting queries; SQL Server or PostgreSQL experience.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps and Agile delivery practices.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS and firewall/security group rules, and role-based access control as applied to platform connectivity and security.
  • Working understanding of how upstream vendor platform failures can cascade into downstream reporting and data systems.
  • Understanding of system integration, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States; the company is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation to reduce manual effort through repeatable processes.
  • Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot complex issues, participate in incident response, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Distinguish issues caused by upstream vendor instability from internal platform or data issues; escalate appropriately and document the distinction.
