Platform Engineer II

Teamworks
$166,036 - $166,036

About The Position

Teamworks is seeking a Platform Engineer II to support the day-to-day operations of their AWS GovCloud infrastructure. This role involves maintaining and improving the observability and stability of the platform as the company expands into high-performance tactical environments. The position is collaborative and hands-on, focusing on making the lives of application teams easier through effective platform engineering. The Platform Engineering team at Teamworks is foundational to the company's operations and is expanding into a significant vertical.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, or DevOps engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Linux administration in production environments, including RHEL-based system management
  • Proven hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS preferred), Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or comparable tooling
  • Experience deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to translate platform changes into clear guidance for application teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in AWS GovCloud, FedRAMP, or IL4-regulated environments
  • Background in defense contracting or government environments
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tooling (Ansible, AWX, and Packer)
  • Familiarity with Python or shell scripting for operational tooling
  • Experience with Datadog or a comparable observability platform

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day operations and maintenance of our AWS GovCloud environment, including EKS cluster management, EC2, RDS/Aurora, ElastiCache, S3, and IAM
  • Manage deployments of new features and fixes across commercial and GovCloud environments, coordinating with application teams through structured intake and ad hoc request processes
  • Build and maintain reusable Terraform modules, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipeline templates (GitLab CI) that enforce organizational standards for scalability, compliance, and observability
  • Diagnose cross-cutting infrastructure issues — networking misconfigurations, IAM permission boundaries, Kubernetes scheduling failures — evaluating blast radius and downstream impact before proposing solutions
  • Partner with application teams to translate platform changes and new standards into clear, actionable guidance that reduces friction across the organization
  • Drive improvements to environment observability and stability using Datadog, and participate in on-call rotation with full production ownership

Benefits

  • Real ownership over systems that matter
  • A team that values good engineering and clear communication
