About The Position

For a long-term project in the public sector, we are looking for two experienced Platform Engineers with a deep focus on Apache Kafka and Confluent. The roles are fully remote and to be filled immediately.

Requirements

• In-depth experience with Apache Kafka / Confluent Kafka (Broker Installation, Cluster Setup, Topic Management, Partitioning, Replication, Quotas, ACLs)
• Kafka Connect, ksqlDB / Kafka Streams, Schema Registry
• Monitoring and Performance Tuning (JMX, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka Metrics)
• Troubleshooting and Incident Response in productive Kafka environments
• Basic knowledge of Kubernetes / OpenShift (Deployment of Kafka clusters)
• Understanding of network and security concepts (TLS/SSL, Kerberos, SASL)
• German language skills C1/C2 or native speaker
• Residency in EU or UK

• GitOps (ArgoCD, Flux, Helm, CRDs)
• IaC with Terraform (Azure / Kubernetes)
• Hybrid Cloud (Azure + On-Prem)
• Container Security (OPA, Kyverno, Image Scanning)

• Cost and capacity optimization in Kafka

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable Kafka clusters (on-prem, Azure, OpenShift)
• Configuration and operation of Kafka components (Broker, Connect, ksqlDB, etc.)
• Implementation of security and authentication mechanisms
• Monitoring, log analysis, and performance optimization
• Incident management including root cause analysis and post-mortems
• Automation via IaC and GitOps
• Capacity and cost optimization
• Documentation, best practices, and team enablement
