About The Position

Dyne Therapeutics is focused on delivering functional improvement for people living with genetically driven neuromuscular diseases. We are developing therapeutics that target muscle and the central nervous system (CNS) to address the root cause of disease. The company is advancing clinical programs for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) as well as a preclinical programs for facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) and Pompe disease. Dyne is seeking a highly motivated Co-Op student to support process development in the Platform Development team. Dyne’s Co-Op program offers students the opportunity to learn and work at a cutting-edge company in the biotech industry. This is an exceptional opportunity for students to be exposed to many facets of the company and learn about drug discovery from Dyne’s muscle disease programs. The student will join a team of chemists and biologists and interact cross-functionally and collaboratively with scientists within the company. The student will work closely with mentors to develop skills in synthesis, purification, and characterization of therapeutic conjugates and their development through the research pipeline. The successful candidate will be collaborative, detail-oriented, motivated, enjoy learning new skills, and working in a fast-paced environment. This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote. This is a 6-month position beginning in July. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university Co-Op Program.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate/ graduate program with a background in biology, chemistry, or a related track with at least one year of experience of general chemistry lab work (eg, molarity calculation, pipetting).
  • Ability to follow experimental protocols and take the initiative to learn new skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, and to work cooperatively with peers.
  • The candidate will be self-motivated and detail-oriented and have the ability to communicate ideas and document research effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on academic/ industry experiences with protein chemistry are desired.

Responsibilities

  • Learn diverse lab techniques, including buffer preparation, SDS-PAGE, BCA, ELISA, and AKTA to support biological conjugations.
  • Learn and assist biochemical analysis and interpretation on in-process and final purified conjugates using in-house analytical methods across instruments such as UPLC-RP/SEC, LC-MS/MS.
  • Maintain accurate and clear records of experimental work.
  • Communicate up-to-date findings and contribute to critical discussions with the group members.
  • Present a summary of learnings and findings to the team at the end of the Co-Op program.
