About The Position

Magellan Aerospace Processing, New York (West Babylon) has an exciting opportunity for a Plater Trainee. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of certified Chemical Processing Leads and experienced Platers while learning aerospace metal finishing processes, including cadmium plating, embrittlement relief bake, chromate conversion coating, and other chemical processing operations in accordance with route card instructions, internal procedures, and customer specifications. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are interested in developing a career in aerospace chemical processing. The selected candidate will receive on-the-job training and certification while safely working in a chemical processing environment using all required personal protective equipment and safety procedures. The salary range for this position is $21.00 to $24.00 per hour based on relevant experience and shift. First Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • No previous plating experience is required; comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Willingness to learn aerospace chemical processing operations and obtain required certifications.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents written in English, including work instructions and route cards.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work safely in a chemical processing environment while following all safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).
  • Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist certified Platers with electroplating (Cadmium) and other chemical processing operations.
  • Learn proper plating, chromating, baking, and chemical processing techniques in accordance with customer specifications and company procedures.
  • Assist with wiring, racking, unracking, loading, unloading, and baking of aerospace parts.
  • Perform basic inspections of processed parts under the direction of certified personnel.
  • Verify that internal procedures and customer requirements are followed, including accurately completing Route Cards and production documentation.
  • Coordinate with other departments to help maintain steady workflow throughout production.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety procedures and 6S standards.
  • Assist in tracking supplies and notify the supervisor when materials require replenishment.
  • Participate in training and certification programs for aerospace chemical processing operations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
