Plate Mounter Assistant (STP)
About The Position
A "plate mounter" is primarily responsible for accurately mounting printing plates by using an automatic mounting machine onto sleeves used on a printing press, ensuring the plates are precisely mounted on the sleeve according to job description and specifications. This role involves job preparation, checking job orders for accuracy, inspecting plates and sleeves for correct specifications and condition, applying sticky back material to sleeves, and accurately mounting plates using an automatic mounting machine. Post-mounting quality control checks are also a key part of the role.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Familiarity using a computer.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Check job order for accuracy and request corrections as needed.
- Check mounting plate for correct item, condition, and thickness as specified on the job order.
- Check mounting sleeve for specified sleeve repeat, sleeve made plate thickness, sleeve made press, and condition.
- Apply sticky back to the sleeve based on job specifications using a tape applicator machine without trapping air.
- Mount the specified plate accurately using an automatic mounting machine.
- Perform pre-mount and post-mount quality control checks.
- Clean the back of the plate with 99.9% isopropanol alcohol.
- Trim plates if necessary.
