The Plastics Technician is responsible for performing all plastic molding setup duties, including mounting molds, mold hookups, material changes, mold start-ups, and making necessary heat and machine adjustments. After setup, the technician operates the machine to verify first piece accuracy, documents measurements, and visually inspects molded parts for defects. The role also involves setting up and adjusting robots, troubleshooting work-related problems by observing machines and processes, and monitoring the efficiency of molds and molding machines. The technician will refer to various documents for parts information, set up auxiliary equipment, and participate in required training. Additionally, the role includes documenting mold repairs or issues, making minor equipment repairs, assisting maintenance personnel, completing new setup sheets, maintaining log sheets, reading charts and graphs, and providing input on new molds and materials.
