This position provides support to the Supervisor and Plastics Team Members. The main responsibility includes training, developing, and evaluating Plastics Team Members to ensure that they can perform the required job tasks to meet company goals (i.e., safety, quality, and productivity). Other duties include providing relief support and direction to Plastics Team Members to ensure goals are met in a timely manner with adherence to safety and quality standards. This position will also assist with problem-solving, 5S, and controlling material usage by focusing on scrap reduction.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or beverage industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership skills to manage performance and inspire team to achieve results.
  • Communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Strong operating skills in organizing, planning and time management, as well as getting work done through others.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Be eager, upbeat, and have a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous manufacturing experience and/or Team lead experience would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and motivate the Sheetline team.
  • Maintain and enforce a safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety legislation and housekeeping practices, use of personal protective equipment, and any other company policies.
  • Enforce all company policies according to the handbook and escalate any violations or disciplinary issues of the direct labour workforce.
  • Participate in time studies for continuous improvement of production efficiencies.
  • Ensure all SOP’s are kept up-to-date and arrange for appropriate training as required.
  • Report any team member absences and any maintenance concerns to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Ensure the attainment of daily production targets and identify any escalating production concerns in the area.
  • Attending daily meetings to maintain communication with team members on the shop floor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
