About The Position

This role involves providing comprehensive clinical practitioner services to both inpatients and outpatients within Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery. The provider will participate in office/clinic operations, conduct assessments, diagnose and treat patients, and perform physical examinations. Key responsibilities include assisting with surgical boarding, providing first assistant support in the operating room, and managing postoperative patient care. The role also entails prescribing medications, performing advanced therapeutic procedures, admitting, managing, and discharging patients, and ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests. Effective communication and coordination with consulting services and ancillary departments are essential. The provider will also be involved in patient/family education, community outreach, and potentially research and student education.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan.
  • Must be able to obtain DEA prescriptive authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, react competently, and treat unique needs of patient age groups served.

Responsibilities

  • Provide full-time clinical Practitioner services to inpatients and outpatients.
  • Participates in office/clinic operations.
  • Provide initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Conduct physical examinations and completes H & P documentation.
  • Assists with boarding patients for surgery.
  • Provides 1st assistant support in the operating room and conducts rounds on postoperative patients.
  • Communicates and coordinates care with consulting services and ancillary departments.
  • Prescribe medications as permitted by the State of Michigan regulatory agencies.
  • Performs advanced and complex plastics and reconstructive therapeutic procedures.
  • Admit, manage and discharge patients.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and order the appropriate use of medical devices.
  • Documents patient care and progress and maintains complete and detailed patient records.
  • Demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand, react competently, and treat unique needs of patient age groups served.
  • Participates in the education of PA students and NP students.
  • Participates in data collection and research.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Provides patient/family education and support.
  • Participates in community outreach.
  • Interacts with 3rd party payer’s as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
