The program begins on August 24th, 2026, and is an on-site position in Iowa City, IA, with relocation assistance available. The program allows participants to earn money while working and attending college, with pay increases annually. It involves 3 years of training and classes at Kirkwood Community College, leading to an AAS degree, followed by 2 years of full-time employment. Apprentices will gain hands-on experience and develop skills for advanced manufacturing. The role focuses on supporting the setup, operation, and optimization of plastics manufacturing processes, specifically Extrusion Blow-Molding, including machine operation, quality checks, material handling, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Ages 18 and up/college-ready students.
  • Willingness to relocate to any of ALPLA's 17 plant locations after program completion.
  • Must be able to work 70% of the time and attend class 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Support the setup, operation, and optimization of plastics manufacturing processes with a focus on Extrusion Blow-Molding.
  • Assist with machine operation.
