About The Position

The Manager Operations is responsible for directing and overseeing multiple departments. This responsibility is a multishift, 7 day per week operation with approximately 100 employees. Manages an operating budget of approximately $10mm per year. They are responsible for instilling a mindset of zero injuries. The operations manager must oversea a robust asset reliability program to ensure our manufacturing equipment is properly maintained to maximize it's useful life. Our quality standards must always be met and fill rates are expected to be at least 98%. The operations manager must have a long term view of plant profitability, driving the team to work on projects that will continuously improve our profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations, Business, Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of relevant work experience required.
  • At least three (3) years working in a manufacturing environment and three (3) years of supervisory experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong leadership skills combined with the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with people, projects and issues.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lead people.
  • Ability to actively engage by means of discovery, process, and/or application of new information.
  • Demonstrate key competencies, including conflict management, business negotiation, organization and decision making.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all operations are processing product that meets all Klein tools standards. Oversee rework and scrap levels.
  • Ensure that bottlenecks are managed appropriately such that product will flow in a timely fashion. All fill rate, line fill and back order objects are to be achieved.
  • Optimize departmental profitability. Profitability will be focused on in the short and long term.
  • Manage an asset reliability program that will optimize the life of the department's key manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensure that the departmental employee population is properly engaged in such a way that employee turnover is minimized. Responsibility includes providing for a safe, healthy, organized and clean working environment.
  • Manage a succession plan for all departmental salaried and key hourly employees. Capable backups should always be in place.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to develop plant fiscal budgets. Determine labor standards and staffing levels on an ongoing basis. Review regular financial reports and follow through as necessary to control costs and approve departmental purchases of supplies and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Engineering to develop new products.
  • Make employment decisions on hiring, promotion, transfers, training and development, disciplinary action, terminations, and pay adjustments; monitor performance by completing new hire and annual performance evaluations. Consult with Human Resources as necessary.
  • Ensure that proper safety methods are used in the department as specified by Loss Prevention.
  • Ensure team maintains an orderly and clean department.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
