About The Position

The Plastics Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on high-speed assembly and injection molding machines. This role involves following supervisor and manager direction for production scheduling, maintenance, and problem resolution, while maintaining a clean, safe, and SQF-compliant work environment. The technician will also be responsible for entering and tracking work orders, performing TPM checks, 6S activities, and daily/weekly cleaning. Maintaining spare parts inventory, collaborating with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams, and supporting Lean and continuous improvement initiatives are key aspects of this position. The role requires flexibility to cover opposite shifts, provide on-call support, and work overtime as needed, including weekends and emergencies. Additionally, the technician will support molding operations based on the production schedule and workload, and train/support new hires and incumbent team members. Other duties may be assigned, and responsibilities may be modified by Fres-co.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of injection molding maintenance experience, including hot runner systems, pneumatic gate valves, and mechanical side cores
  • Minimum 2 years of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience with high-speed automated equipment
  • Experience installing and setting up high-cavity injection molds (100–500 US tons)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift materials as needed throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and pull at least 75 pounds frequently
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks in a high paced production environment

Nice To Haves

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification/experience
  • Experience with bi-axial blow molding or similar processes
  • Experience with automation systems, conveying equipment, box loading/counting equipment, and PLCs
  • Training or experience in scientific injection molding process development

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on high-speed assembly and injection molding machines
  • Follow supervisor and manager direction for production scheduling, maintenance, and problem resolution
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and SQF-compliant work environment
  • Enter and track work orders for maintenance issues
  • Perform TPM checks, 6S activities, and daily/weekly cleaning according to Master Cleaning Schedule
  • Maintain spare parts inventory to support production equipment
  • Work closely with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to achieve uptime and quality targets
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Cover opposite shifts, provide on-call support, and work overtime as needed, including weekends and emergencies
  • Support molding operations based on production schedule and workload
  • Train and support new hires and incumbent team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned
