About The Position

The Technical Welder/Fabricator is responsible for building new from full scale drawings, modifying, and repairing steel rotational molds using TIG and MIG welding, press brakes, shears, saws, and hand tools. This position requires precision craftsmanship, an understanding of complex mold geometry, and the ability to fabricate high‑quality components that meet engineering specifications and production requirements.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in welding and metal fabrication.
  • Demonstrated skill in TIG and MIG welding steel.
  • Experience operating press brakes and power shears.
  • Proficiency using hand‑forming tools for shaping steel components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and weld symbols.
  • Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and problem‑solving ability.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience fabricating rotational molds (steel or aluminum).
  • Familiarity with mold assembly, alignment, and surface finishing.
  • MIG welding skills or multi‑process welding background.
  • Experience with press brakes milling and drilling machines and other fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high‑quality TIG and MIG welding on mild steel components used in rotational molding and other assigned projects.
  • Fabricate mold components using press brakes, shears, and hand tools.
  • Shape steel components to achieve required contours, radii, and mold surface geometry.
  • Assemble, fit, and weld complex mold sections to tight tolerances.
  • Perform finishing operations including grinding, smoothing welds, and preparing mold surfaces for production.
  • Follow weld procedures, maintain proper parameters, and ensure consistent weld penetration and strength.
  • Build new steel rotational molds from engineering drawings and full scale drawings.
  • Repair damaged molds, including patching, replacing sections, and restoring shape accuracy.
  • Conduct dimensional checks to ensure molds meet required alignment, symmetry, and sealing requirements.
  • Modify existing molds for product changes or engineering improvements.
  • Operate and set up press brakes for bending steel with precise angles and measurements.
  • Use power shears to cut steel sheets to required dimensions.
  • Maintain TIG and MIG welding equipment, hand tools, grinders, and fabrication machinery.
  • Perform routine safety checks and identify equipment maintenance needs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, CAD drawings, and mold schematics.
  • Verifying all fabricated components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Document completed work
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, mold technicians, and production teams.
  • Prioritize tasks based on production schedule and mold repair urgency.
  • Provide feedback to engineering on design improvements related to manufacturability and durability.
