About The Position

Munson Healthcare Plastic Surgery Clinic has an excellent opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their team in desirable Traverse City, Michigan. This position is supported by two physicians and three APPs. The ideal candidate is attracted to a busy practice, works well independently, and is a team player. The practice supports both medical reconstruction and cosmetic patients. This is a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, with variable daytime hours to align with operating room start and end times. Responsibilities include weekend hospital coverage and participation in evening/weekend call. Outreach to Munson Healthcare Petoskey Community Health Center is also expected.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies
  • State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required
  • Must be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
  • Must receive a flu vaccine during the flu season in the year that they are hired and annually thereafter, or receive an approved medical or religious exemption.

  • Plastic Surgery experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive patient assessments in the ambulatory setting, including history and physical examinations, new surgery consultation, routine office follow up care, and post-operative care.
  • Orders diagnostic tests, develops plan of care, and interprets clinical test results.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and other therapeutic treatment for the benefit of patient health.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, as needed, including post-procedure wound care.
  • Admits patients to the hospital, performs daily rounds, writes orders, daily progress notes, discharge summaries, etc.
  • Provides pre & post-op education and teaching with patient and family.
  • Prescribes both pharmacologic agents (pre & post-op), and non-pharmacologic therapies (i.e: PT, OT, NST, etc.).
  • Orders/interprets diagnostic imaging and tests/labs.
  • Coordinates care provided by multiple specialists including surgeons, hospitalist providers, cardiology, urology, nursing staff, etc.
  • Diagnoses and performs comprehensive patient assessment and management.
  • First assists surgeons in the operating room daily with scheduled and add-on surgical cases.
  • Assists OR coordinators with correct case card selection/supply/equipment needs.
  • Assists OR circulating RN and surgical tech with appropriate supplies and equipment/flow of surgical cases to enhance efficiency.
  • Performs pre & post-op order placement/management.
